Hi MrsHToBe!!
Your honeymoon sounds awesome!!! All those places would be a lot of fun I reckon! Definitely talk your H2B into Hawaii, it's on the way home!! hehe!!
I ended up booking through Flight Centre. I got a quote from another travel agent who said flights weren't open yet and to come back the week later, I went to Flight Centre in the meantime and she said she didn't know what the other travel agent were talking about, cause tickets were open, and very booked up!! (there's an ironman event on at the time we're going) so I ended up going over budget with tickets, but it doesn't matter, it's all paid for now so I don't care.
I'm doing the registry ourselves thru whatwewishfor.com.
I also found that staying in private rentals was cheaper than staying in a hotel, so think outside the square when booking accommodation. And don't go through travel agents for accommodation, cause their prices are per person, not per room. If you want to take a chance, use one of those last minute accommodation websites for cheap rates or book directly with the hotel website.
We're staying at The Bellagio in Las Vegas and got a rate directly with the hotel for $219 a night for a room with a view of the fountains. I couldn't even find a cheaper price on the last minute accommodation websites for the near future, so direct with the hotel was the way to go!!
Good luck with finding a great deal!! The more you save, the more you get to spend on the honeymoon!! Keep us updated with your plans! _________________

How did i miss you response???!!! Sorry hun!
I know, i am soooo excited for our first big overseas trip (and the wedding of course hehe)!.
Yep cool, thats where our friend works. And we are getting the same thing, as the "travel year" supposedly goes from April to March, and we want to leave on 4 April, they said its not "open" yet. Boo. I just want to get it booked and organised!!!
Hmm interesting on the private rentals.... you will have to give me more details . Can i add you on FB? Always out to save some $$$. And thats interesting that the rate directly with the hotel was the cheapest, crazy!!!
Did you get direct flights, or have a stopover? Who are you flying with?
I notice that NurseEm also went to US for 3 weeks, would love to hear her plans as well. Hopefully she comes in here for a look |

I have stop overs and the wait between each is 4 hours!! There isn't much we could do as flights were really booked up and it was better to wait than to risk missing a flight!! We fly to Sydney, wait 4 hours, then fly to Honolulu, wait another 4 hours then fly to Vegas, stay 5 nights then come back to Hawaii for 2 weeks, flying between three islands for 5 nights each, before flying back to Sydney and having to stay a night there and catch an early morning flight home...it sucks, but we will deal with it. It's so hard co-ordinating such an all-over-the-place itinerary!! My fault I guess, I had to be difficult and suggest Las Vegas and Hawaii all in the one trip!!
We're flying with Virgin Blue between Adel and Sydney then Hawaiian Airlines for all the rest.
You sure can add me on FB, my name is Renee Tonkin.
Yeah, hope NurseEm pops in to give us some tips!! _________________

Welcome back Em, so glad to hear you had a wonderful honeymoon! I have a question to ask about Hawaii, hehehe! Did you do any tours and if so, what would you recommend? There are so many to choose from! Any other tips or suggestions you can offer would be fantastic. Thanks so much! _________________ ♥ 7th November 2009 ♥

Well we have booked our honeymoon now. 3 and a half weeks in the US, YAY!
We ended up getting flights ADL to MEL to LAX (hmm super long, so hopefully we will be ok!) then our LA to NY and back flights, then the same back to adelaide. We got them in the EOFY sale, so saved a fair bit on what we had budgeted which is exciting!
NurseEm
"We are staying at the 'Waikiki Parc Hotel' in Hawaii and then doing 3 nights in TI ( old Treasure Island) and 3 nights in MGM Grand in Vegas!!
I have been to Vegas twice before and LOVE It!!
We are also doing LA and Disneyland too"
Do you recommend the MGM Grand, it looks lovely in photos! Also, where abouts in LA/Disneyland did you stay and would you recommend it? Thanks!!! |

Hey again girls - hope i can help with your questions
Mrs Zilla - we did a couple of day tours, we didn't organise them until we got to our hotel, we were slack - and let the concierge do all the calling for us one tour was a day long tour of the island (oahu) visiting all of the famous beaches and a pineapple plantation and macadamia nut farm, that was fun!
Another was a pearl harbour tour, that was really good - i def recommend doing that
ummm.....and we went to a 'Luau' one night, with hula dancing and food and drinking, it was a bit corny but good fun all the same
Once you are there you will find 100's of tours on offer and much cheaper than paying for things once you get there.
MrsHto be - MGM grand was nice - but HUGE!!! it is the 2nd biggest hotel in vegas apparently, our room was nice - just a standard suite, but i really found TI nicer. Also i have previously stayed at The Mirage, and found that was nicer too....but it might depend on the room you get, we did get a free upgrade at TI, MGM grand had a fabulous pool though! In disneyland we stayed at the Red Lion Anaheim - it was lovely and good breakfast each day about a 10 minute walk to disneyland entrance, i would recommend disneyland any day!! I love it!
In LA we stayed in the Hollywood Heights Hotel - also nice. Although everything in LA is so much more expensive. Hollywood Heights was about a 5min walk from Hollywood Blvd.
Ah now i wanna go again!!!!
Good luck with your plans girls - your gonna have so much fun!!! _________________
